Romain Dumas (Porsche) leads the way after Practice 1 at COTA

After the first hour and a half of practice for the Lone Star Le Mans at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Romain Dumas set the No. 18 Posche with a 1:47.231 just ahead of Mark Webber in the No.17 Porsche that managed a 1:47.514.  In a slightly distant 3rd place, Lucas Di Grassi set a 1:49.027 with the No. 8 Audi almost 2 seconds off the first place.  Di Grassi was followed by the Toyotas of Kazuki Nakajima (No. 1) and Alex Wurz (No. 2).  The 2nd Audi participating, the No. 7 driven by Andre Lotterer finished in the 6th position. As far as P1 goes, Team Rebellion had the edge with Nick Heidfield setting a 1:55.8 followed less than a second apart from Trummer in the No. 4.

P2 category has the participation of several cars that promise to give a great fight all of them within less than two  seconds apart. Team KCMG leads the way with car No. 47 with almost half a second of advantage ahead of local team Extreme Speed Motorsports that put its two Ligiers No. 31 and No. 30 in second and third with only 11 hundreds of a second of difference between them.

In category GTE Pro, AF Corse car No. 71 had the fastest time with a 2:06.753. The Ferrari leads the way from the close competition with little over half a second of difference towards team mate No. 51 car.  Third place lies the Porsche 911 RSR No. 92 of team Manthey.  In GTE AM, Team Dempsey-Proton had the edge with car No. 77 driven by Patrick Long ahead of the Ferrari No. 83 of team AF Corse and the Ferrari of team SMP Racing No. 72.
