Audi certainly started at full throttle and have established a clear advantage of over 40 seconds toward the third placed Porsche. One full course yellow saw the LMP1 H cars all go into the pits, Toyota has kept Porsche under pressure since the start of the race and double stinting the tires put them briefly in front of one of them. Exactly at one minute from the 3 hour mark the No. 86 Gulf Racing Porsche had an off at turn 1 while exiting the pit lane, got stock in the gravel trap and caused the second full course yellow that allowed several cars to stop.
